
CEGISA Visit to Secondary Schools for Inauguration of FECA Agripreneur Club (26th January, 2022 and 11th February, 2022 respectively)
A visit was made by the Centre to three Secondary Schools in Akure namely: Jooro High School, Ibule (on the 26th of January, 2022); Ilu-Abo High School, Ilu-Abo and Eji-Oba High School, Oba-Ile (on the 11th of February, 2022).
The visit was made solely for the Introduction and Inauguration of the FECA Agripreneur Students Club. The Director introduced the Centre, its members and the College to the students. The main talk was led by Mr Efunwoye, who spoke to the students on the Importance of Agriculture in recent times and encouraged them to be involved in Agribusiness as a source of employment and income rather than relying solely on the government.
Students were asked to put down their names for the Students club(FECA Agripreneur Club). A brief meeting was held with the Agricultural science teachers who were saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the club. Thereafter, vegetable and cucumber seedlings were given to the Club for cultivation.
Five Students from the members of the club were appointed as executives for the Club. Also, a photo session comprising of Some Members of the Centre, the Principal, the Students and some Agricultural science teachers. During the meeting, it was deliberated that the club should hold its meetings twice a month or once a week as the case may be. The Centre requested that a mini-farm should be set up for the club members to maintain the awareness of the practical side of Agriculture.
