Agricultural and Bio-environmental engineering
The department founded in 1993, runs both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. Agricultural engineering is a life-based discipline that emphasizes the application of engineering principles and concepts to agriculture in order to provide food, feed, fiber, and protect the environment. The major objective of the department is to produce graduates who have the requisite knowledge on how to reduce drudgery in farming operations and fully optimize farm resources. To achieve this, the department boasts of qualified and knowledgeable academic and technical staff.
Agricultural Extension and Management (HND)
The department aims to train and equip students with practical knowledge and skills in the field of Agricultural extension. The objective is to produce extensionists who will be able to provide technical advice to farmers, serve as an intermediary between the researchers and farmer in the transfer of innovation, helps farmers acquire required inputs like credit facilities, evaluation of new technologies on farmers’ fields, and helps in the formulation of agricultural policies that will be favorable to farmers and increase food production in the country.
It is one of the premier departments in the college and was founded in 1991 to award National Diploma (ND) to its students. The department exists to train students on the use of technology in crop production, animal production, aquaculture, and horticulture, with the aim of increasing yield, efficiency, and profitability.
Animal Health and Production Technology
We currently run a National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes. We will be pleased to have you as one of our students.
The main objective of the department is to equip graduates with appropriate knowledge on the different areas of agriculture, with a bias towards animal production. Graduates will be practically trained and also possess theoretical knowledge about the technology that should be applied in the keeping of animals for profit, including feeding, breeding, housing. The training is also influenced by the knowledge of genetics, care, nutrition, environment, production method, and marketing practices.
As one of the new departments in the college, It currently runs only the National Diploma (ND) programme. Our aim is to produce graduates who are developed to meet the challenges of self-employment as professional software and hardware engineers. Students are trained in subjects like Computer hardware system, design, assembling, construction, operation, and maintenance; Computer software system; Data analysis; Principles and practice of Information Technology; Computer Networking in agro-based and agro-allied industries, financial institutions, educational institutions, and government ministries and parastatals.
Crop Production Technology
The department runs the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme only. Students who are admitted into the programme already have prerequisite knowledge about crop production but will have that knowledge increased by receiving training on the fundamental principles and practices of produce harvesting, processing, preservation, and conservation. These teachings are accompanied by hands-on practical work. Students will also be trained in the areas of crop protection, soil and pest management, and crop improvement techniques.
It is among the new departments in the college and has been accredited to run the National Diploma (ND) programme. The objective is to produce skilled manpower who are trained and equipped with adequate knowledge that will aid them in becoming self-reliant in the area of fish production. Students are trained by qualified staff who pass to them their rich wealth of experience and knowledge. Also, they are exposed to practical experiences in the area of fisheries management.
The department is among the new departments accredited by the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) to award students National Diplomas in the area of Forest Technology. As providence would have it, the department is situated within the tropical rain forest region, and its programme is geared towards producing graduates capable of managing forest resources in a suitable manner. The department aims to give its students required academic and practical knowledge in areas of afforestation, inventory, harvesting, and proper utilization of forest resources.
The department currently awards the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND). Students are instructed on the area of agriculture concerned with plants, mainly for food, materials, comfort, and beauty for decoration. Students are taught how to apply such knowledge, skills, and technologies to grow intensively produced plants for human food and non-food purposes and for personal or social needs. Students are also trained on plant propagation and cultivation so as to improve plant growth, yields, quality, nutritional value, and resistance to insects, diseases, and environmental stresses.
Pasture and Range Management (HND)
Welcome to our department! We currently run a National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes. We provide our students with the up-to-date practical and theoretical knowledge required for engaging in pasture and allied feed resources viz ruminant livestock production. Our training also involves the management and utilization of grassland or rangeland resources in order to attain economic livelihood.
